National Republican Senatorial Committee: Response to Roxanne Conlin attending the American Trial Lawyers' winter convention
1/29/2010

Good afternoon -

I wanted to ensure that you saw the invitation below to the winter convention of the American Trial Lawyers Association, which is taking place this weekend in Hawaii. Democrat Senate hopeful Roxanne Conlin, a former head of the trial lawyers association, is attending this convention in an attempt to rake in campaign cash from her trial lawyer colleagues.

In reporting on these events, I hope you will consider the following response from the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), as well as background information on Conlin's close relationship with trial lawyers:

"It's ironic that less than three months after launching a campaign promising to 'take on the special interests,' Roxanne Conlin is spending the weekend collecting campaign cash from her fellow trial lawyers. Judging by her behavior, Roxanne Conlin is more interested in representing the special interests than she is in fighting them, and voters in Iowa will reject her record when they re-elect Senator Grassley this November." - Colin Reed, NRSC spokesman

THE INVITATION TO TRIAL LAWYERS' WINTER CONVENTION:

My fellow women trial lawyers -

I am pleased to report that Congressman Bruce Braley and Roxanne Conlin will both be in Maui during the AAJ Winter Convention.

Congressman Braley, a trial lawyer himself, has been a steadfast supporter of our cause in his two terms in office. Since he has to run every two years, he is always targeted by opponents of civil justice, and this year will be no exception.

Roxanne Conlin, AAJ's first woman president, is running for the Senate in Iowa, hoping to unseat incumbent Charles Grassley. Since we've lost our Super Majority, Roxanne's race presents a solid opportunity to convert a Republican vote to a Democratic one!

Most importantly, given the Supreme Court's recent ruling on campaign finance, expect the Chamber of Commerce to oppose these two worthy candidates with every dollar they can muster. Now more than ever, these two incredible trial lawyers need your support!

I hope you'll take the time to visit with them on the 31st and I hope you'll give generously.

Here are the details (invitations/donation forms attached):
