AFF PAC: Iowans deserve the truth from Roxanne Conlin 12/8/2009 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, December 08, 2009 Contact: Jill Latham (515) 720-5250 Trial Lawyer and U.S. Senate Candidate Roxanne Conlin profits while Iowa schoolchildren suffer Des Moines, Iowa –Today, liberal trial lawyer and Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Roxanne Conlin stood with Iowa Governor Chet Culver and announced $60 million in funding for Iowa schools from the settlement of a lawsuit against Microsoft Corp. (The Des Moines Register 12/08/2009) This money is a portion of the $180 million settlement from a lawsuit alleging Iowa consumers and businesses wer e overcharged for computer products. The dirty little secret is Roxanne Conlin received more from the settlement than Iowa schools will receive. Roxanne Conlin, trial lawyer and Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate, used today’s press event to try to fool Iowans into believing she did this for them. The real truth is that Conlin did it for herself. Conlin lined her pockets with a $75 million commission from the lawsuit – an astounding $15 million more than what Iowa schools and taxpayers received! While Culver recently slashed school district budgets across the state because of the severe budgeting mess he has put the state in, he and Conlin are attempting to hide the real truth. Sandy Greiner, AFFPA Board Member stated, “Chet Culver and his trial lawyer friend Roxanne Conlin think they can buy a computer for a school with Microsoft’s money and get a pat on the back while he slashes their budgets by 10%. The bottom line is that schools will lose a teacher, but get a new PC. Talk about mixed up priorities.” Iowans deserve the truth, not more smoke and mirrors. And the truth is Roxanne Conlin profits while Iowa school children suffer. # # # |
