After Weeks of Momentum for Greenwald, Latham Says No to KCCI/Register Debate

Waukee, IA – Tom Latham declined to debate his opponent, Becky Greenwald, in the KCCI-TV/Des Moines Register debate. The debate, which would air on network television to 16 of the 28 counties in the 4th District in primetime, would have the highest viewership of any of the three debates Latham agreed to.

In the last week, the Greenwald Campaign received endorsements from two national organizations, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and EMILY’s List.

In response to Tom Latham declining this debate, Becky Greenwald released the following statement:

“I am disappointed that Tom Latham declined this debate. This network debate in primetime would reach the most voters in the 4th District. After 14 years in Congress, the voters of the 4th District deserve answers from Tom Latham on his record. Why did he vote to give tax breaks to corporations that send jobs overseas but fail to give our troops a $1500 bonus? Why did he vote to give tax breaks to corporations who send jobs overseas? He needs to answer for his dismal voting record in Congress.”
